The Opening Reception and Awards Presentation for the Lakehead University Student Exhibitions scheduled for Friday, March 13 at 7:30 pm at the Thunder Bay Art Gallery has been CANCELLED.

The cancellation is the result of the postponement of large public gatherings on campus announced by Lakehead University on March 12, 2020. The annual Opening Reception attracts upwards of 400 people from Lakehead University and the community at large.

With an abundance of caution during a rapidly-changing situation relating to the spread of COVID-19, the Thunder Bay Art Gallery and Lakehead University are taking the pre-emptive step of CANCELLING the event.

This preventative measure is to help ensure the safety of everyone who would have attended the event. The Public Health Agency of Canada maintains that the risk to Canadians is low. Health Units in Thunder Bay at the time of this notice maintain that there have been NO cases of COVID-19 in the community.

The public is encouraged to visit the Thunder Bay Art Gallery during regular hours to view the student exhibitions which feature exceptional works of art by Lakehead University students enrolled in the visual arts program, including Honours students.

The Thunder Bay Art Gallery remains open during regularly scheduled hours.
Tues – Thurs, 12-8 PM and Fri – Sun, 12-5 PM

The Lakehead Student Exhibitions will be on display until:
Honours – March 29
Juried – April 5
