Fresh Perspectives 2023

Fresh Perspectives, Secondary School Art Exhibition. Celebrate the artwork of students from Thunder Bay and the region. APR 27 - JUN 11, 2023.

PA Days @ The AG June 16

Participants will get to explore the gallery inside and out, while getting a closer look at the artwork on display. Students of all abilities will enjoy the variety of art activities and games, including painting, drawing and maybe even a print or two. AGES 7-11

Blake Debassige

The Gallery is honoured to exhibit 17 works from our Permanent Collection by artist Blake Debassige (1956 – 2022), who passed away last year. March 29 - June 18, 2023.

Ruth Tye McKenzie

Spotlight exhibition: Ruth Tye McKenzie (1929 - 2023) was a beloved artist in Thunder Bay. Born in Edmonton, Alberta, she moved to Thunder Bay in 1976. She loved the northern Ontario landscape and captured it in paintings, etchings, and mixed media works. APR 28 - JUN 18, 2023.

Fairytale Artists

Beginning JULY 3. Get your magic wands ready! Design dragons and build the perfect home for gnomes as we look closer at our fairytale favourites. AGES 5 - 7. This camp is FULL.

The Enchanted Forest

Beginning JULY 3. Come along and join us in the art-filled Enchanted Forest. Paint magical landscapes and create mythical creatures during this week of magic. AGES 8 - 11

Beginning JULY 10. Try your hand at making pinch pots, coils and building slabs. Learn all about different types of clay and even make work that you can wear or hang on a wall. AGES 6 - 9. This camp is FULL.

Beginning JULY 7. Explore the techniques of the masters. Experience the world of pottery and take a hike to a local clay deposit. Campers will have an extended knowledge of clay and how to use it. AGES 10 - 13

Oh My Creator! Neechee Studio 10th Anniversary

Oh My Creator! A 10-year anniversary exhibition. Neechee Studio is a free art and culture program for Indigenous youth ages 14-29 in Thunder Bay. Organized by a team of young, aspiring, and professional Indigenous artists, the Neechee Studio Committee team works together to bring free art workshops once a month in the city. APR 28 - JUN 18, 2023.

Little Seedlings

Beginning JULY 17. Discover art inspired by animals, insects and plants. Campers will try beading, make prints with real flowers, and take home a seed bomb for their own garden. AGES 5 - 7

Island Explorers

Beginning JULY 17. It's time for an island adventure! Inspired by sandy landscapes and underwater sea life. Campers will search for hidden treasure as they create beachy projects. AGES 8 - 11

Artistic Actors

Beginning JULY 24. And ACTION! Theatre meets art this week. Inspired by the gallery's production of Alex the Artist, campers will discover the art of set design, costume creation and prop preparation. AGES 7 - 12

Beginning JULY 31. With a little bit more time, comes more detailed projects. This full-day clay camp will have campers getting messy! AGES 8 - 12. This camp is FULL.

Thread the Needle

Beginning AUGUST 8. This camp will leave you in stitches! Learning a new embroidery stitch every day, campers will get to design and sew a one-of-a-kind stuffed animal. AGES 9 - 13

Art Experiments

Beginning AUGUST 14. Get your lab coats ready! Invisible ink drawings, optical illusions and more. Campers may get messy this week when making their own slime and even edible ink. AGES 5 - 8. This camp is FULL.
