This summer, the Thunder Bay Art Gallery celebrates a major acquisition by artist Christian Chapman. In 2022 the Thunder Bay Art Gallery received the York Wilson Endowment Award which funded the acquisition of 11 paintings by Chapman from the series Ziibaaska’iganagoodayan – The Jingle Dress.

Wiigwas Manidoog Descendants is the first solo exhibition of works by artist Helen Pelletier. Her etched baskets, objects, garments, and accessories express her relationship with Wiigwas, or birchbark, and reflect the love she feels for the land.

Ahoy Matey! Get your paintbrushes (and pirate hats) ready as we set sail this October! Young artists will try their hand at painting, sculpting, and will even design their own treasure map! While discovering the wonderful exhibitions on display this fall, we will also sail our way through various artistic tips and tricks perfect for any pirate ship!

Space Explorers Saturday October 7 – November 11 3:00 – 4:30 pm 3…2…1… BLAST OFF! This fall young artists will make art that is out of this world! Inspired by spaceships, planets, aliens and everything in between! From keychains to paintings and even glow in the dark artwork, students will walk away with new skills and experiences that last a lifetime!
