Talking Collection is a new and accessible tour through gallery exhibitions. With a casual cinq à sept vibe, this social event is hosted by a selection of Gallery staff who share insights on exhibitions, artworks, projects, and our permanent collection. The Gallery’s collection is alive, historically significant, and growing.
Step behind the scenes of A Strong Law Bids Us Dance, an exhibition featuring a range of major works and historic donations drawn from the collection. This event is lead and hosted by:
Executive Director Matthew R. Hills explores contemporary art practices, including a large-scale installation by Kwakwaka’wakw artist Sonny Assu.
Collections Manager Meaghan Eley queries works in the From Our Hands collection, a historically significant donation from the 90s that helped shape the Gallery’s collection.
Curator Penelope Smart offers insight into the impact of Odawa-Potawatomi-English artist and visionary Daphne Odjig.
