Beading is one of the defining mediums of contemporary Indigenous art on this continent and an art form our region is renown for. If you love the beauty and tactile quality of beads, join local Indigenous artist Annette Klement as she teaches how to create beaded wire wrapped hoop earrings. This workshop is an excellent introduction to beading, no previous experience is required.
Artist Bio: Annette Klement is an Indigenous beader and hand drummer from Thunder Bay and is a member of Pays Plat First Nation. She started beading in 2020, and it quickly became an important part of her life. Annette uses beading to connect with her culture and Indigenous traditions. Her beadwork is a mix of traditional and contemporary styles with a focus on earrings. In her spare time, Annette enjoys teaching beading workshops, traditional women’s hand drumming, camping, fishing, and hunting with her family.
