A Strong Law Bids Us Dance
A Strong Law Bids Us Dance
APR 14 >> JUN 21, 2026
A Strong Law Bids Us Dance is a large-scale exhibition that resonates with our 50th anniversary. A selection of charged and dynamic paintings, prints, and sculptures showcases more than 40 artists from the collection, including master Daphne Odjig (b. 1919 – d. 2016) and Ahmoo Angeconeb (b. 1955 – d. 2017), alongside music-making and regalia accessories by several artists not yet identified. Everyone is part of the circle.
In the Gallery, works including Off to the Powow, The Whirlwind, Dancing Loons, and Thunderbird and Dancer bring intense, singular, spinning imagery that energize the space. Other pieces, such as Serpent Dancer and Eagle Dancer, amplify movement and sound as a form of transformation. As a group of works that flow, including exuberant flexes and solos, A Strong Law Bids Us Dance is a pulse-quickening exploration of the Gallery, its collection, and the communities we serve at the heart of art activity in Northern Ontario.
