Local Artisan Spotlight
Black Dog Ceramics
Black Dog Ceramics is owned and operated by local artist and ceramicist Kat Twomey. Her work draws its unique visual identity from designs and glazes inspired by nature and her thoughtful, well designed forms. Ranging from large flower vases to miniature jars, each piece is thoughtfully handcrafted with its user in mind—ceramics for everyday use.
Her latest solo exhibition, PORTALS, was shown at the Co.Lab Gallery in April 2026. Three sculptural works from the show were later selected to be a part of the Thunder Bay Art Gallery’s Northern Ontario Juried Exhibition in July 2026.
The Gallery Store showcases a wide range of pieces from Black Dog Ceramics including: mugs, jars, pitchers, and vases. Visit the Thunder Bay Art Gallery to explore these one-of-a-kind ceramics and check out blackdogceramics.ca to find more of her work.
