“The Thunder Bay Art Gallery strives to create space for a variety of community collaborations and outreach initiatives.” Executive Director, Matthew Hills said, “This initiative presented by the Bulgarian Consulate, speaks to Thunder Bay’s importance as a hub in our region, province, and nation. We hope the public takes up this opportunity to learn more about Bulgarian history and culture through this fascinating display.”
In attendance of the opening was Thunder Bay’s Mayor, the Honourable Ken Boshcoff, who’s own heritage has roots in Bulgaria. When asked about the exhibition Mayor Boshcoff said, “Congratulations to the Thunder Bay Art Gallery for their excellent work on the Bulgarian Consulate’s Alphabet and History exhibition. Thunder Bay has a small but mighty Bulgarian community, and this is a wonderful exhibition for Thunder Bay to understand Bulgarian culture.”
