During this workshop, participants will delve into the fascinating chemistry and artistry of botanical dyeing, discovering what happens when flowers rich in natural dye compounds interact with pre-mordanted cloth. Explore with local artist Tuija Hansen the vibrant colour potential of a variety of homegrown, native, and invasive flower species found in Northwestern Ontario.

This session is inspired by the detailed and atmospheric prints of Ed Bartram, inviting you to unwind and get creative while exploring his striking interpretations of the Canadian landscape. Enjoy a relaxed night out as you learn about Bartram’s work and artistic approach, then try your hand at designing a layered block print, building your image through bold shapes, textures, and colour. 

Virginia McCoy: Holding up the Sky is a retrospective exhibition featuring more than fifty original paintings that have travelled from Inverness, Cape Breton, to Thunder Bay for the first time. In all her work, there is purpose in returning to yourself.

Art Books 1983-2026 presents a selection of art books published by the Gallery and works for the collection, serving as a living resource for artists, curators, researchers, and, most importantly, art lovers. As part of this legacy, we will launch a new publication during this exhibition. This exhibition is part of the Gallery’s programming celebrating our 50th anniversary.
