Grandparents bring your Grandchildren….Intergenerational Art Classes with Betty Carpick


Intergenerational Art Class:  3 Art Workshops for Grandparents, (Grandmothers) and children (age 6-9)

Sundays  February 5, 12 and 19       1 – 2:30pm

$70 +hst   Members $60 + hst


Celebrating the fun of creating together, this class is especially for grandparents, (‘grandothers’) and children.  Work side by side as you paint, hammer, weave and create a handmade book together.

This program is part of our Creative Aging initiative.

Betty is a multi-disciplinary artist whose practice includes drawing, design, photography, film, writing, performance and installation. She loves making art with everyday and unexpected materials. She’s made a sustained and visible presence particularly at the community level. Betty is of Indigenous decent, from the Nelson House Cree Nation in northern Manitoba.

Her most recent project was teaching an improvisation workshop and conceiving and facilitating a community art project complimentary to Eleanor Albanese’s play, “Night Wings” for the 2016 Superior Theatre Festival.

Betty was the instructor of the Theatre in Education program at Magnus Theatre from 2002 – 2015. Since 2014, she has been involved with Tangled Art + Disability and Jumblies Theatre community arts projects for all ages and abilities in Thunder Bay.

In 2015 and 2016, she directed 10-minute plays for the 10 x 10 Theatre Project. In 2014, Betty directed a 4-minute pseudomentry film, “Impersians”, an exploration that incorporates the painting app, Brushes and documentary footage about Thunder Bay’s iconic pastry.
