Mitakuye Oyasin: All My Relations

Extended to JANUARY 18
Writer Richard Wagamese describes the meaning of the Lakota phrase “All My Relations” as both a powerful teaching and a blessing which reaffirms the “principles of harmony, unity, and equality” that also is a “way of saying that you recognize your place in the universe and that you recognize the place of others and of other things in the realm of the real and the living.” The emphasis on the interconnected nature of the universe that is embodied in the statement ‘All My Relations’ can also be seen in the work of contemporary artists in the Permanent Collection.

Drawing on the theme of All My Relations and its diverse reiterations, this exhibition features the work of Ahmoo Angeconeb, Roy Morris, Maime Migwans, Roy Thomas, Rick Rivet, Susan Ross and Eleanor Kanasawe.
