Connecting Layers: Layers – The Big Art Adventure

Extended to January 21, 2018.
The Big Art Adventure project was a partnership with the Thunder Bay Art Gallery and Our Kids Count. Over three weeks, participants explored multi-media art techniques with artists Janelle Wawaii and Matt O’Reilley. Inspired by the exhibition by artist Quentin Maki, the “artists” explored painting, collaging and stenciling techniques.

Our Kids Count (OKC) is a community development organization which builds stronger families and inclusive communities by enhancing people’s lives through personal growth and development.

CONNECTING – Youth Job Connect

Youth in the Youth Job Connect program created art work with Pam Cain, Public Programming Co-ordinator.  Participants chose adjectives that described themselves and then explored watercolour and collage techniques to create works of art. The opportunity allowed for youth who are artistically inclined, as well as to those who have had little experience to be exposed to creativity.

The YJC (Youth Job Connect) was developed for youth between the ages 15-29, that are experiencing barriers to employment. The youth attend employment/life skills workshops at YES Employment Services.
