Art & Activism ends September 30

Exhibition dates: September 5 – 30, 2018.
The Indigenous worldview recognizes that we live in balance with nature. In 2016, the actions of the Dakota access pipeline fight in Standing Rock.ND prompted Christi Belcourt and Isaac Murdoch to use art in the fight for for clean water. Through community art builds, thousands of banners have been screen-printed and sent to water protection actions around the world. This exhibition, selected by Betty Carpick, Public Programming Coordinator at Thunder Bay Art Gallery, provides a glimpse at the aesthetic and physical terrain of this activism.
